Taps

Taps are created similar to multi-way splitters except that rather than defining the number of outputs, you must define the number of ports.

Enter Tap Specifications

  1. From the spec menu, select Devices > Taps > New Series.
Note: Enter the 2 port taps first, then 4 port taps, and finally the 8 port taps.
  2. The New Tap Series dialog box opens.

  3. Enter the series Name, Mfg (manufacturer) and number of ports.
Note: Maximum of 40 series with a maximum of 100 models each.
  4. Click Add.
  5. The Tap Attributes dialog box opens.

  6. Enter the model Name, Part #, and Cost.
  7. Select the Cell to represent this device.
Note: Enter the models from highest plate value to self-terminating.
  8. Activate the Self Term check box to identify self terminating tap.
  9. Enter Loss levels for each frequency on the ports and thru outputs.
  10. If Multiply Current draw by Pow Cnt is checked, all Drop settings will be ignored.
  11. Checking the Power Port box indicates that a power jumper can be connected to it.
  12. Enter the Tap power requirements.
  13. Click Add to save a new entry or Update to update an existing tap.
  14. To define additional taps, select New/Edit > New Model.
